Joker Fitness Kila, Split: Gym Sound System, Two Floors
Fitness Center Joker Kila
Joker Fitness opened a new gym in Kila, Split, on 27 February 2026, spread over two floors. We designed and installed its sound system: 24 Bose Professional speakers in separate zones for the two gym floors, the male and female toilets and showers, and reception. The club opened with music loud enough for training upstairs and downstairs, and quieter sound where people talk.

The Challenge
Joker Fitness was opening a new club in Kila, Split, with several different areas — strength floors, cardio, group training and shared spaces. Each needed sound that suits it: energetic where people train hard, quieter where people talk, and nothing that clutters the ceilings.
Our Solution
We designed and installed a multi-zone Bose Professional system: DesignMax pendant speakers and in-ceiling speakers for the training floors, compact FreeSpace in-ceiling speakers for support and circulation areas, driven by a Bose PowerShareX DSP amplifier and a Bose Veritas amplifier.
What did a new gym in Split need from its sound system?
Joker Fitness built the Kila club from scratch, on two levels: a ground floor and a first floor. The areas are used in very different ways. There are strength and machine floors, cardio, group training, and shared spaces such as the reception, the entrance and the changing rooms.
A gym is a loud room. People train to music, the music has to carry over the machines, and the walls and floors are hard surfaces that bounce sound around. At the same time, nobody wants to shout at the reception desk.
The brief for the sound system was clear:
- Even coverage across every zone, without hot spots next to a speaker
- Energetic, punchy sound for training
- Clear music and speech in the same system
- Reliable all-day operation in a club that is open long hours
- Loud enough for a gym on two floors, in every training area
- Ready for opening day — the club was new and opened on 27 February 2026
- A discreet, tidy look that fits the interior — exposed industrial ceilings, linear lighting and ducting
We started from the architect’s floor and ceiling plans. That way the speaker positions were agreed before the ceilings went in, not squeezed in afterwards.
What did we install, and why?
Choosing the speakers
We compared several layouts for the training halls: Bose wall or surface speakers, Bose pendants, and two K-Gear options. Pendant speakers, which hang down from the ceiling on a cable, gave the best overall coverage, especially in the middle of the halls. Wall speakers sound loud near the wall and weaker in the centre of a big room; a pendant sits right above the people training.
We chose Bose Professional for the whole project. The reason is simple: it gives staff who are not technical a control they can rely on. They just need the system to work every morning. As an official Bose Professional partner, we know these products well.
We combined three speaker types, so each part of the club gets the speaker that fits its ceiling and its use.
Main training floors — where the energy is:
- Bose DesignMax DM6PE pendant speakers ×14 (black) — hung below the open ceiling for full sound in the bigger training areas
- Bose DesignMax DM5C in-ceiling speakers ×2 (black) — even music in the main areas
Support and circulation areas — where people move around and talk:
- Bose FreeSpace FS2C compact in-ceiling speakers ×8 (black) — discreet background sound, set into the ceiling so you barely see them
All the speakers are black, chosen to sit quietly in the interior.
The amplifiers, in one cabinet at reception
An amplifier is the box that powers the speakers. This club has two, and they sit together in a compact 4U, 19” wall rack at the reception. We sized that cabinet into the architect’s drawings in advance, so the amplifiers have their own place from day one.
- Bose PowerShareX PSX2404D — a DSP amplifier. DSP is built-in processing that tunes the sound to the room. This one splits power between the zones and holds the tuning for the whole system.
- Bose Veritas 2160BH — an amplifier that powers the additional audio zones.
Zones, not one big volume knob
A zone is an area with its own music volume. Instead of one volume for the whole building, the club has separate zones:
- the first gym floor
- the second gym floor
- the male and female toilets and showers
- the reception area
That is the whole point. The DesignMax speakers carry the energy on the workout floors. The FreeSpace speakers keep the toilets, showers and reception at background level. Staff can turn up a training floor without blasting the reception desk. The design aimed to keep sound clear and controlled at the higher volumes a gym runs at, in rooms full of hard surfaces.
How is the music handled day to day?
The staff run the system, not us. So before the opening we trained the club’s staff on it, as we do on every installation. After opening, we continue to support the system.
How is the system set up?
In plain terms: A zone is an area with its own music and volume. An amplifier is the box that powers the speakers. DSP is the built-in processing used to tune the sound to the room.

What changed for the gym?
We installed the system in January 2026, ahead of the club’s opening. The Kila club then opened on 27 February 2026 with one consistent Bose Professional system across all of its areas.
Members get pendants above them where the ceiling is open and the training is loud. In the toilets, showers and reception they get flush ceiling speakers, a cleaner look and a lower level. Behind it all sits one DSP-managed amplifier rack at reception. For the staff, it is one system with clearly separated zones.
